What if I'm a
Backslider?
God is faithful, he forgives you if you
confess your sin to him. But you say that you
knew what you have been doing is wrong, and you have done it anyway.
God's written Word does say that if you fall away from Christ, you can't
be brought back. Look again. "Falling away" means it would be
impossible for you to repent. Esau sold out for a
bowl of soup. He could not inherit the blessing though he cried his eyes out for it. Look again,
Esau never repented, he blamed his sneaky brother
Jacob. If you can repent, you can be restored.
Consider David,
He was a backslider when he comitted lustful murder by sending Bathsheba's
husband to his death. He repented and was
restored, an example for all of us.
The Prodigal Son is about
the Father's love: "Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on
his finger and sandals on his feet... Let's have a feast and celebrate. For
this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found." (Luke
15:21-24) Your Father wants you.
